The upgrade and support contract is
12% of the list price per year or $200, whichever is greater. The
upgrade and support contract for the Windows2000™ version is 25%
because of the problems Windows has.
The Competition
There are many document imaging programs out
there. Over the past few years it has almost become a cottage industry.
Almost all of them that have a web based option are using the Windows
IIS server program for their internet connection. As many of you
already know, IIS has very poor security. Our competition implements
their web solutions using Windows "active server pages" (asp) feature
because it is easy for them to program and connect to the SQL™
database. The problem with active server pages is that it is such a
large CPU load on the server that you will only be able to get about 15
users on at one time. To get more connection you will have to increase
the power of your server by getting faster and more CPUs. We do not use
active server pages on our Windows2000™ version. We use the same method
we use on our UNIX and Linux program so it is very fast and you can get
up to 300 simultaneous users on a Linux PC type server and up to 40,000
on an IBM mainframe computer.
The philosophy of our company is to produce a user friendly
web-based imaging program that was easy for the IT department to
maintain and was fairly priced. We may not have all the bells and
whistles the higher priced programs have but we have all the basic
features you would expect in an imaging program, besides we have some
features the even the very high priced programs do not have. Many of
the bells and whistle options are never used anyway by the average
user. Some of our competition are: FileNet™, OnBase™, DocSTAR™,
Liberty™, Image Now™, Alchemy™, Fortes™, Hummingbird™, LaserFiche®, Docushare™, Legato™,
and iConnect™. Some of these programs are very full featured but cost 5
to 20 times more then TheRepository™. The least expensive 5-user
program from the companies listed above was $18,000 and that does not
come with a full audit trail. Something necessary for web-based imaging
programs and is standard with ours.
All customer shop around before they buy especially for
substantial purchases and we expect it. What you will find is that most
of the other programs cost well over $30,000 for a simple 5-user
program with a web interface and an audit trail. They will show you
lots of options. Some that carry substantial price tags. Then look at
the features and functionality of TheRepository™. Then ask yourself: Is
a document imaging program worth $30,000 to $60,000 just so 5 employees
can search and retrieve files so we can get rid of the paper? I think
your answer will be: TheRepository™ looks like the best solution for
the money and that's all we really need to get the job done.
The trademarks of the products listed above are owned
by their respective companies.
